Liam Horan is the author of I Can See It Still, a personal account of Mayo football across the decades, written after Mayo finally became All-Ireland champions in 2026.

A writer and journalist from Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, Horan has seen Mayo football from several perspectives. He is a lifelong supporter, former Gaelic Games Correspondent of the Irish Independent and spent five years as communications officer with the Mayo senior football team. He also chaired the process that produced the Mayo GAA Strategic Plan.
His debut novel, On The Way Out, won the 2025 Gerald Griffin Competition for First Original Adult Fiction. His short-story collection, Second Chance & Other Stories, was published by Mayo Books Press in 2022, and his story A Home Game won the inaugural Maura Varley Short Story Award that year.
His writing also includes work for RTÉ Radio One and the stage play The Pull.
