After 75 Years, Plenty to Write About
The Irish Examiner had an excellent piece this week on the number of books being published in the wake of Mayo’s All-Ireland win.
John Fogarty writes that supporters will be “spoiled for choice”, with at least five books appearing to mark a year none of us will forget.
I was delighted to see I Can See It Still: Mayo football all those years. And then 2026 included alongside books by Kieran Shannon, Anthony Hennigan and Edwin McGreal, John Gunnigan and Seamus Murphy.
After all those years of waiting, perhaps it is no surprise that Mayo’s breakthrough has generated so many different stories and perspectives.
There should be plenty of room on the bookshelf for all of them.
