Guest readers at launch of On The Way Out
I included three guest readers at the launch of my debut novel On The Way Out in Ballinrobe Library on Saturday night last.
First up was Saoirse Courtney, grand-niece of my wife Noreen. Aged just six, Saoirse was utterly unfazed by reading in front of a packed house. She read Rabbit in the Woods which she had published in the Chronicles of the Kilconly NS Children, a book produced to mark the school’s 50th anniversary.
Cathal Halligan, her first cousin, provided a discreet security presence lest Saoirse be mobbed by adoring fans. He’s four and fully licenced.
Then, at the advanced age of seven, came my niece, Jean Horan from Tralee in the county of Kerry. Her piece was called Mischief in Mayo. She, too, remained fully composed throughout, as we always knew she would.
Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí…
The other guest reader was Brian Joyce, a member of the Bowers Writers Group, Ballinrobe, that I attend each Saturday morning. Brian is new(ish) to the world of poetry but I am sure you will agree he has a real eye and ear for it.
He’s older than six, and, indeed, seven.
On The Way Out is now available to purchase in local bookstores in Galway and Mayo and online at liamhoran.info/shop
